Power figures stand at a claimed 4.7kW of peak power (4kW in the base Konarc S 2.1kWh), while peak torque is 16Nm. One of the key design changes over Ather's other models was the switch to a hub mounted, direct drive motor, as opposed to a mid-mounted motor with a belt/chain. This results in an effectively-silent riding experience, with no perceived drivetrain noise. The Konarc comes with 3 riding modes on offer - SmartEco, Eco and Power. Performance in the lower modes can be described as sufficient, but practically speaking, any mode other than Power should see usage only in range-limited scenarios. In Power mode, riders will have access to the full performance potential of the Konarc, which boasts a 70kmph top speed and a 0-40kmph burst in five seconds. Moreover, the throttle response and overall performance is approachable, making it unintimidating and beginner-friendly. Aimed at family-oriented buyers, the Ather Konarc prioritises comfort and stability over outright prowess. It features telescopic front forks, paired to a 14-inch alloy wheel with tubeless tyres. At the rear, the Konarc moves from the Ather standard of a single rear monoshock to a more conventional dual-coil spring setup. The split setup makes for a more comfortable ride, offering a plush ride that deals with imperfections in the road well. The Konarc tips the scales at 126-129kg, depending on the variant and battery size, owing partly to the all-metal body of the Konarc, a first amongst Ather's lineup. The increased weight isn't felt, while the AirWalk feature helps during low-speed manoeuvre. The Konarc’s handling is all about stability, with the longest wheelbase in Ather’s line-up, while the 14-inch front wheel and 12-inch rear wheel give it a planted feel. The Konarc features a contemporary, yet minimalist design, aimed at appealing to more family-oriented audiences. It incorporates large bodywork, and a simple front apron. While the design is subdued, it is distinctive. The apron itself is wide, and extends to the sides of the front fascia. The wrap-around DRL is mounted on the apron, featuring integrated indicators too, and an illuminated 'Ather' logo. Moving further back, the scooter features a bold seam running down the mostly-featureless bodywork, which splits the bulk of the bodywork into top and bottom halves, with the line looping below the taillight. The taillight is similar in its design to the front DRL, and takes overall inspiration from some petrol powered scooters, with a modest design and neatly-integrated indicators. The tail section of the Konarc can take on a multitude of different appearances, based on the variant chosen. The pillion grabrail can be a simple tubular structure, or a padded moulded piece on higher variants. Additionally, buyers will also be able to opt for a backrest, which is available as an accessory for all variants. Depending on the desired variant, the Konarc can be had with either a 'DeepView' 4.2-inch display (Konarc S 2.1kWh only), or a 7-inch touchscreen TFT. (shown below). The 4-inch display, an LCD unit, gets basic connectivity to the Ather app, providing call alerts, music control, and AutoHold, but misses out on several, key features. Meanwhile, the larger 7-inch variant gets the full host of Ather tech, including Ather Stack, Ather Connect (theft alerts, geofencing, Bluetooth + Sim), and benefits from convenient over-the-air (OTA) updates, which can be done from anywhere without an SVC visit. All 3 variants currently on sale get either a 130mm front drum (Konarc S 2.1kWh only) or 220mm front disc, combined with a 130mm rear drum brake. While all variants get a basic combined braking system (CBS), Ather's Advanced Electronic Braking System (AeBS), an electronically controlled brake assistance feature, is limited only to the soon-to-be launched Konarc Z variants. The Konarc Z will also benefit from regenerative braking, where the AeBS system blends the regenerative braking effort from the motor, with the mechanical braking effort from the disc brakes, to bring the scooter to a halt. The braking performance on the Konarc feels well suited to its character, with a good amount of bite and progression, while the rear drum complements the front without feeling too grabby. The Konarc features service intervals as high as 1-year/10,000km, which are some of the farthest service intervals observed on any electric scooter. During the launch, Ather spoke to the reliability and dependability of the EL platform, while highlighting how even major repairs can be conducted in very low turnover times, such as changing the motor, gearbox or battery.
