What is IIT JEE?
IIT-JEE is a national level joint entrance exam to get admission into bachelor courses in engineering in IITs. JEE is considered one of India's highly competitive engineering exams that require strong analysing and problem-solving skills. At present, there are 23 IITs in India offering a variety of courses ranging from B.Tech to doctoral programs. The Joint Entrance Exam (JEE) is conducted in two phases: JEE Main and JEE Advanced.

JEE Main is the first phase of the entrance test, and only candidates who clear this exam are eligible to appear for JEE Advanced. JEE Main is a computer-based exam and comprises two papers. Paper 1 is conducted to admit candidates to undergraduate engineering programs in institutes and universities recognized by the State Government. It also serves as an eligibility test for JEE Advanced. Paper 2A and Paper 2B are conducted to admit candidates to B. Arch and B.Planning courses in India.

JEE Advanced is the second and final phase of the entrance exam. Candidates who clear JEE Main and score high ranks in the merit list can appear for JEE Advanced. It is a computer-based exam conducted by seven different zonal IITs on a rotational basis. The exam consists of two papers: Paper 1 and Paper 2, carried out in two stages, held on the same day. Learners must appear for both papers to clear IIT-JEE Advanced.
Paper 1: It is a Computer Based Test (Online mode). It has multiple-choice questions with a single answer, questions with multiple answers numerical value answer type questions and matching list type questions.
Paper 2: It is a Computer Based Test (Online mode). It has multiple-choise questions with single answer, questions with multiple answers, numerical value answer type questions and paragraph type questions.
All sections have an equal number of questions from Mathematics, Physics and Chemistry.

IIT JEE Syllabus
National Testing Agency (NTA) is the exam conducting board for JEE Main. It has released the JEE Main syllabus for all the subjects on the official website. The aspiring candidates who will appear for JEE Main can refer to the detailed syllabus for preparation. The JEE Main syllabus consists of three main subjects - Physics, Chemistry and Mathematics. The syllabus for Physics is divided into two sections: Theory and Experimental Skills. The ratio of the weightage of Section A to Section B is 80:20. Chemistry consists of three sections: Physical Chemistry, Inorganic Chemistry and Organic Chemistry. Mathematics includes problems of Algebra, Matrices, Trigonometry, Probability, Analytical Geometry, Calculus, and Vectors.
IIT JEE Exam Pattern
JEE Main consists of three papers - Paper 1, Paper 2A and 2B:
Paper 1 consists of 75 questions
Section A has 60 questions, and Section B has 15 questions
Learners need to answer 75 questions - 20 questions in section A and 5 questions in section B for each subject - Physics, Chemistry, and Mathematics
Section A comprises multiple-choice questions with single correct answer
Section B comprises numerical value answer type questions
For each correct answer, +4 marks will be awarded, and for each incorrect answer, -1 will be deducted. There is no negative marking for Section B
Paper 2A consists of 77 questions.
Learners have to attempt 77 questions: 25 in Mathematics, 50 in Aptitude and 2 in Drawing
In Mathematics, 20 questions will be multiple-choice questions, and 5 questions will be numerical value answer type questions
Each correct answer will be marked +4 marks, and -1 will be deducted for each wrong answer
Paper 2B consists of 100 questions.
The questions are divided into three parts: Mathematics, Aptitude Test, and Planning based questions
