For being 1,753 miles off Broadway, the Burning Hills Amphitheater is one iconic venue. It was carved into the hillside – known as Burning Gulch – by local volunteers in 1958. “Teddy Roosevelt Rides Again” was the title of the show when it opened in 1965. It eventually evolved into the Medora Musical . Prior to a 1992 remodel, the audience sat on wooden benches and often arrived hours before the showtime to get their preferred seat. Over one hundred costumes are designed and constructed for the show each year. More than 4 million folks have seen the Medora Musical . Talk about making history.
