Picture Formatting GIFs
发布时间:2026-08-28 | 浏览:1
I am trying to apply an effect under the Picture Format section (Corrections, Color, and Artist Effects) to a GIF. However, whenever I do so, the GIF does not play anymore. It seems that the GIF still does not play even if the Artist Effect is removed. How can I apply these effects while still having the GIF play?

We appreciate that the video and GIFs you provided in private message.
We have tested it again according to the video you provided, and we found some difference, I summarize below:
To summarize the scenario, if you want to apply Picture Format to your GIF, you can recolor it or you can adjust the transparency of your GIF, if you set the other format, such as Sharpen/ Soften, etc. It “photoshops” your gif picture, as the result, your gif picture is formatted as a .png picture.
At the same time, if you can recolor it or you can adjust the transparency of your GIF, then you can right-click > select Save as Picture and you will find the format of this picture is .gif, as shown below:
If you set the other format, then you can right-click > select Save as Picture and you will find the format of this picture is .png, as shown below:
I understand that using this picture effect for GIF in PowerPoint instead of editing in other software will bring you a lot of convenience. Given this situation, to address your concern, the best way to solve problem is directly to provide feedback via Smiley Face button inside PowerPoint.
We appreciate your understanding!

Anonymous 2020-01-09T13:23:27+00:00 FYI: there is a new PowerPoint 365 feature in "Insider" preview. You will be able to save PPT to GIF. So, once that feature is released to general public you could extract images from GIF, put them into PPT, apply image editing, then save as GIF to regenerate it. https://answers.microsoft.com/en-us/msoffice/forum/all/new-feature-create-animated-gifs-using-powerpoint/cdaadab7-c6a9-4733-9516-478605292f93 0 comments No comments

Anonymous 2020-01-09T10:00:45+00:00 Hi Corban, Thank you for your message in this forum. According to your description, we have also tested it on our side and we can reproduce the same situation as yours. We’re afraid that there is no out of box wat to apply an Artistic effect from Picture Format to a Gif directly in PowerPoint. As Rohn said, a GIF is not a single image. It is a file containing several images that are played rapidly. We’re sorry that it doesn’t meet your requirement. We understand the situation and you make a great point. To address your concern about the situation, we’d suggest you go to PowerPoint Uservoice to provide your feedback. This is the best platform to let us hear from you and make our products and services better for you and others. Or you can also provide feedback to our related team by clicking on the Smiley Face button inside PowerPoint. This feedback will directly go to them so that our related team can hear your voice on this feature directly. Thank you for your understanding! Best Regards, Sukie 0 comments No comments

Anonymous 2020-01-09T08:33:11+00:00 A GIF is not a single image. It is a file containing several images that are played rapidly, like a "flip-book" or animation. . You would have to decompose the GIF to extract the images, apply the picture format, then recompile the GIF. Search the web for the tool you think is best. Here is just the first example I found https://ezgif.com/split 0 comments No comments
