I was not aware that other Chromium-based browsers see the same behavior. I haven't reread the long thread, so if that info was there, I missed it or forgot that I'd seen it. I don't see the behavior on Firefox, but it's not a fair comparison because I use a cookie manager on that browser. I hadn't started using one on Vivaldi, because, in general, I figure the fewer extensions, the better. I'm only seeing the behavior on one site (so far), so I'll have to make my own decision whether to allow the 3PC settings allow the cookies to stick around, or revert to earlier behavior that requires me to login and then click the link a second time to actually get to the content.
