Discussion eBay Full Refund on a Working $1,200 Vintage Amplifier – Is This Fair? refund Scammers & Fraud Collectibles Vintage electronics music Refunds Returned items Returns scam I’d appreciate advice from experienced eBay sellers. I sold a rare 1970s Yamaha CA-2000 amplifier to a UK buyer for around $1,200. It weighs about 25 kg. Unfortunately, one bottom leg was damaged during shipping, but the amplifier itself remained 100% working. I have photos/videos proving its condition before shipping. The buyer opened a return for a damaged item, and eBay issued a full refund. I have now lost the amplifier, the $1,200 sale, and the expensive international shipping cost. I even offered to send a replacement leg separately so the buyer could keep the amplifier, but he refused. The buyer now has a rare, fully working vintage amplifier after receiving a full refund. Even non-working or “junk” CA-2000 units can sell for high prices on eBay because of their rarity and valuable parts. Do you think this decision is fair? I’m now seriously worried about selling valuable 20–30 kg vintage Hi-Fi equipment on eBay. What precautions or alternatives do experienced sellers recommend? 5 hours ago last reply 27 minutes ago I’d appreciate advice from experienced eBay sellers. Discussion Partial cologne bottles not allowed? Just found out that a partial bottle of perfume/cologne etc is not allowed. Mine was removed. But they are all over ebay. Discussion Messages that just say Hi My recent listings have received messages, just saying hi or hello, from outside the US. If I respond, I get nothing back. Is this a scam of some sort? yesterday at 10:21 PM last reply 1 hour ago My recent listings have received messages, just saying hi or hello, from outside the US. If I respond, I get nothing back. Is this a scam of some sort? Discussion Any clue to as why I have to wait until buyers receive delivery in order to get access to my funds again? I'm a frequent seller, not too old on eBay, but still worked and performed well enough to finally begin receiving funds within 48 hours of an item being paid for. Now all of a sudden, all items have been showing "on hold until after delivery." Even though at the top of my eBay it says "congrats! You're receiving payments within 48 hours" or whatever it says. Nothing has changed performance wise, as that's the first thing I checked. This is very frustrating to have this randomly happen, as it unfortunately makes me want to stop selling on eBay all together. Not because I have to wait for funds, but just because I work at something and strive for excellent customer care and service, etc. and out of nowhere get limited again. I wish their was someone on eBay who could fix this for me and take care of it on my end, but I just don't understand is why I'm frustrated. Thank you for any and all advice. 6 hours ago last reply 1 hour ago I'm a frequent seller, not too old on eBay, but still worked and performed well enough to finally begin receiving funds within 48 hours of an item being paid for. Discussion International account living in United States Why is it that a buyer with a valid address in the United States is continuing to have a registered account in a foreign country yet lives in USA. So an item sells to a New York address yet I have to pay fees for a international buyer because his account is listed as living in INDIA??? Not the first time this has happened to me, myself a very low volume seller. My opinion just another scam for unnecessary fees for the crooks. A class action lawsuit should be filed because this BS adds thousands in their pockets that shouldn't be! yesterday at 5:21 PM last reply 1 hour ago Why is it that a buyer with a valid address in the United States is continuing to have a registered account in a foreign country yet lives in USA. It’s not giving me any seller options. It’s not asking for my birthday or Social Security number and therefore not verifying any information. I’ve put my payment method in three times just in the past few hours and it only goes toward buying not selling or for payouts.Ive been working on this for hours and cannot get the help I need. Discussion Navigating eBay's Policies on Selling Used Fragrances Many sellers are eager to list pre-owned fragrances, but navigating eBay's rules around this can be tricky. As eBay requires cosmetics to be unused, how have you approached selling used or vintage perfumes while staying compliant? Have you creatively marketed your listings or perhaps found alternative platforms for these items? Discussion Niche scam you should be aware of... nothing you can do to stop it... Running into a fun credit card / mail fraud scam that is helped by the ebay platform.... Buyer buys items, but has them shipped to 3rd party freight forwarding service After item is delivered to address on payment (with confirmed tracking delivery) Buyer files chargeback with bank claiming they never authorized payment, uses 3rd party address as "proof" of ID theft Ebay tells you there's nothing they can do, that they must obey bank demands Why this is maddeningly frustrating.... 1) Buyer's void their money back guarantee when they use a 3rd party to accept their items. The term "freight forwarding" comes directly from the money back guarantee ToS page (see below image) 2) Even though ebay can 100% prove this is fraud, they will tell you there is nothing they can do until bank makes a decision (could take up to 6 months) ... they 100% know you're a victim, but do nothing to help you until after your money has been tied up for weeks / months 3) When the CC scam is successful because buyer is international and address was domestic.... ebay will pay out to the thief, charge you $20 per chargeback (4 and counting in my case) then force you to file an appeal to get your money back... even though they've known since the moment the case was filed it was fraud. Fun times PS... before anyone says "but you'll get your money back".. give me a few hundred dollars of yours to hold until Christmas... I'll give it back before the New Year I promise. yesterday at 9:59 PM last reply 2 hours ago Running into a fun credit card / mail fraud scam that is helped by the ebay platform.... Discussion Postage Stamps - listing removed So I sent my husband to the post office for 1 roll (100 coil) of postage stamps plus 5 extra (needed for my daughter in college). Of course he thought I said 5 rolls - so I ended up with 5 hundred US Flag stamps. I'll never use these in a lifetime. I tried to return to post office but they don't take returns. USPS said that it's up to each individual post office. I've been selling on ebay since 2001 so figured I'd just sell them - even if at a small loss. I did check other listings both active and sold and then followed the same procedure as far as description and images. I had some bids - then this morning ebay removed the listing with a reason about stamps policy and conterfeit. I can understand there would be concerns for this type of item, but I can't figure out why mine were removed when the image shows factory sealing, bar codes etc. I called an agent and wasn't given a clear answer. Does anyone have experience in this that could advise? I could try posting it again with an image of my actual receipt from the post office - not sure if that would help. But I obviously don't want my account suspended. Discussion Why Does eBay Restrict Selling High-Risk Items? eBay often restricts the sale of high-risk items such as electronics or branded products, which can be frustrating for sellers looking to expand their offerings. While these restrictions are put in place for various reasons, including legal regulations, intellectual property rights, and buyer protection, they can also limit business opportunities. Have you experienced challenges when trying to sell these types of items on eBay? How have you navigated these restrictions? Do you think these policies are fair or overly restrictive? Share your thoughts and experiences, and let’s discuss possible strategies for compliance and successful selling on platforms like eBay.
